FRIENDS OF KEBYAR SUBSCRIPTIONS

Subscriptions are available at $35.00 per year for regular subscribers, and $21.00 per year for students (with proof of status).

The Friends of Kebyar journal and newsletter are both included with the annual subscription as well as a listing online at the FELLOWS DIRECTORY.  We also send out an e-mail FoK e-News about twice a month during the year with links and items of interest to all that have listed e-mail address.

Past Journals are also available individually at published prices listed in the Journal Index. At present overseas subscriptions are at the same rate as domestic subscriptions and all postage is included in the annual fee.

Foreign Payment Information

For payment, if you have a credit card, the best way is for you to use Paypal as described at our website www.kebyar.com - click on the “Subscribe Today” link. Away from the FOK website go to the main Paypal website www.paypal.com and go to “send money” - you will need to set up a Paypal account if you have not done so already. At the send money page, just fill in the information.  Use the email address for Bob Bowlby rbowlby2@comcast.net  as the recipient's email address. For the category of purchase, select “Goods other”. In the comments box, note what your order is.  Fill in your shipping address, etc.

Please do not attempt to wire the money since bank fees are terrible, often more than the cost of an expensive journal at our end. The next best solution is to have  an American Express International payment or a bank with US branches or a bank that has an affiliation with an international bank such as ABN AMRO, CITIBANK or JP MORGAN/CHASE, etc. print you out a bank check in US dollars made out to "Friends of Kebyar" so that you can mail it to me here. In Belgium, the Postal Service will issue and mail to us a JP Morgan/Chase bank draft in US dollars made out to the “Friends of Kebyar”. Another more primitive method is to send US currency that is carefully folded into your letter and mail it to me.

Who are the Friends of Kebyar?

Friends of Kebyar is a Georgia non-profit corporation and an international network of people interested in original and innovative architecture that is not “mainstream” - architecture that defies the tyranny of styles. We advocate creative and unusual solutions to the challenges facing today’s architects.

Kebyar is a Balinese word literally meaning the process of flowering.   It also designates a style in Balinese music and art connoting strength and vigor.    Internationally famed architect Bruce Goff chose Kebyar as the name for a school of creative arts and architecture he was planning at the time of his death.

The organization’s purposes are to advance creative organic architecture, to bring attention to the works of original artists, and to nurture the spiritual endowment left by the architects that have preceded us who worked so hard to free their art from the indolent idioms of fashion and imbue it with new meaning, integrity, and respect for the natural environment.

To that end, Friends of Kebyar publishes a print journal documenting the works of many selected architects, as well as a newsletter which provides a medium for a network colloquy.

Friends of Kebyar has sponsored a series of “celebration-gatherings” and symposiums since 1983.  An opportunity to meet kindred spirits and see examples of their architecture.

This Web Site also has a Directory of Fellow Subscribers with hot links to individuals, including e-mail and Web Site URL. It is a way to see the work of other subscribers and build community.    Inclusion in the Web Site Directory is now a benefit of Kebyar subscription.

We now send out an E-mail news called FoK e-News to all subscribers that have an e-mail address.   The E-news includes items of interest to our subscribers as well as announcements that can not wait for the printed newsletter. 

Friends of Kebyar is really a way to be part of a creative community of architects.   We welcome students to  show their work along side the practicing professionals by linking their individual web site on the Fellows Directory.
